Frequently Asked Questions

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Cradle to Crayons team?

Choosing a child care provider for your little one is a major decision. It’s only natural that you and your family would have questions. That’s why we’ve compiled some of our most frequently asked questions and their answers for you right here. If you have a question that we haven’t covered, please feel free to give our centre a call or drop in to say hello. We’re always more than happy to assist!
At what age can my child start day care?

We provide care for children as young as 6 weeks old in our babies’ room. You can view the program for the babies’ room on our Fun, Play & Learning page.

Will you let me know my child’s progress?

Yes, of course! Our educators will provide regular updates through a digital platform, called Storypark where you can view photos, daily stories and other aspects of your child’s progress. Our educators are always free for discussions if you’d like to ask questions or find out more.

Do the children receive meals?
We ask families to pack a healthy lunchbox for their children with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Please speak with C2C team members if you are looking for some lunchbox ideas.
What happens if my scheduled day falls on a public holiday?
Cradle to Crayons, along with many other providers in the sector, closes for public holidays. If your scheduled booked day falls on a public holiday, fees will still apply as staff and operating costs still need to be covered. The Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS) covers up to 42 allowable absence days a year which includes public holidays.
What happens when we go on holidays?
Normal fees apply for all absences (including Public Holidays) that fall on a booked day.
What kinds of outdoor activities do you offer?
As the Wide Bay region’s only Forest Learning and Bush Kindergarten, we offer a wide range of nature activities based on the Nature Play QLD program. We also have an adjoining 14,500m nature block to allow children to explore and enjoy unstructured play while under supervision. Our educational indoor/outdoor program meets the educational and developmental needs of each enrolled child.
Do you have a kindergarten class?
Yes, we do. Our kindergarten program is Queensland Government approved and taught by a university-trained, ACECQA approved early childhood teacher.
Are nappies provided for babies and toddlers?
Yes, nappies, wipes and sunscreen are all provided.
Do I still need to pay for a scheduled day if my child is sick?
Yes, fees still apply for sick days. The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will cover up to 42 absence days a year with no documentation and unlimited sick days if you’re able to provide a medical certificate or similar evidence.
